Myth v. Reality: Mediation is a Shortcut to a Quick Divorce

While mediation can expedite the divorce process compared to litigation, the timeline depends on the complexity of the issues involved and the willingness of both parties to cooperate.  The goal of mediation is to reach a fair and sustainable agreement, which may require multiple sessions.  If mediation is commenced before litigation, the parties can move forward at a pace that matches their comfort level.
